Answering my five questions today is Elizabeth Brown, author of sexy, playful romance. It took her a while to fully embrace the genre, but once she did she never looked back! Alright then, onto my questions. 🙂
Why did you start writing? I had toyed with the idea of writing a memoir for a few years, but it wasn’t until I read an article in ELLE magazine about romance writers that I thought, you know what? That would be fun. I had gotten into the genre a few months before, and it just so happened that my husband was busy with a big project at work, so I figured: why not! I literally sat down at my kitchen table and started to write. I found that I entered a kind of trance, and a few weeks later, I was done with my first book.
What’s your favorite thing about being an author? My favorite moment is when I’m writing and everything just *flows*. It’s like I’m channeling the character, and what pops out of their mouth actually manages to surprise me. I also love to read reviews. Good or bad, I use it as feedback to make my next piece better, and am honored that anyone would take the time to read something I wrote.
Have you read anything fantastic lately? Just finished Prick by Sabrina Paige. I wish I could write crass, cocky men like that!
What can readers expect from your books? My writing tends to be light and hot with playful sexual tension. Not too much angst going on. I like reading to be an escape, so that’s how I write. Someone once told me my books were a great palate cleanser, which I took as a compliment.
Anything new you’d like to share? My next book is coming out in early July (you can pre-order it here). It’s an unexpected twist on student/teacher genre. It’s called ‘The Lessons’; here’s the blurb: Things weren’t exactly going according to my Plan, so I did what most Americans do when confronted with a problem : I hired someone else to fix it. Except ‘it’ was my virginity. And that ‘someone else’ was a sex surrogate. I should have known the answer wouldn’t be that simple.
Looking forward to your new release! Elizabeth’s books are available for purchase online and in paperback; check out this link for more information.
