Sawyer Belle, Historical and Contemporary Romance author and blurb writing extraordinaire 😉 will be answering my questions today. Okay then, let’s get to it!
Why did you start writing? I always wrote stories and poetry as a child and up through college, and I was a journalist during my early 20s. Once I had my son 9 years ago, I stopped writing in favor of being the best single mom I could be. After several years of that, I realized I had given up a large and very important part of myself, and was no better or happier for it. So, I began writing again, mostly to remind myself that I still exist outside of my functions of mother, wife, employee, and to reconnect with the person and artist I always wanted to be.
What’s your favorite thing about being an author? Touching people. I always write for myself, weaving the types of stories and characters that touch me and entertain me. But when I’ve written something that has struck a chord with someone else, it so much more rewarding than I could have imagined. I once had a reader contact me and say that the heroine in my book, Love of a Lioness, inspired her to persevere and work through a very difficult time in her life. That was the ultimate compliment.
Have you read anything fantastic lately? I recently read Midnight Star (a YA romance) by Danielle Ward. Make Me Whole by RC Matthews is another fantastic read. In non-romance, In the Heart of the Sea and Unbroken were amazing!
What can readers expect from your books? Passion. Adventure. History. Humor. And VERY strong heroines.
Anything new you’d like to share? I’m in the middle of two WIPs right now. One is the third installment of my Love in the Sierras series of western romances. The other is a steamy contemporary that takes place in the Bahamas. Both should be out this fall. I have been known to post snippets and excerpts from time to time on my blog. So, any subscribers may find some treats over the coming months!
Thanks for having me, Rachel!!
